Mayfield Mountain

[1] At the base of these mountains is a river called Ford's Fork creek.

[2] These hills are abundant with wildlife including Whitetail deer, Bobcats, Coyotes, Carolina river dogs, Groundhogs, Turkeys, Red and yellow tailed hawks, Owls, Grey squirrels, Black bears, and Rabbits.

[citation needed] In the early 1800s, the land where "Mayfield Mountain" is situated was owned by William James Mitchell.

The land was later purchased by the Benjamin Franklin Lane family.
