[3] The township is in southeastern Jefferson County, north of Punxsutawney and southwest of Reynoldsville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 26.3 square miles (68.1 km2), of which 0.03 square miles (0.09 km2), or 0.13%, are water.
[4] The township contains the unincorporated communities of Anita, Panic, Cortez, and Battle Hollow.
20.7% of households were made up of individuals, and 9.7% were one person aged 65 or older.
