The contract process was protested by local special interest groups[15] whose claims include that Nestle neglected to study the impact on the region's ground water and have overstated the potential economic benefits of the proposed plant.
On May 13, 2008 AP Press reported that Nestle announced plans to reduce the size of the proposed McCloud Bottled Water plant to 350,000 sq ft (33,000 m2) from the originally-planned 1,000,000 sq ft (93,000 m2) proposal.
McCloud Partners has turned the property into a self funded enterprise zone that supports new business, employment opportunities, and new ideas.
It has hosted 3 CalFire Fire Camps with abundant water resources, an air support dipping pond, and hostfacilities.
The importance of property stewardship shows the priority how the partnership values the community in where it's located.
