Striated grassbird

The striated grassbird (Megalurus palustris) is an "Old World warbler" species in the family Locustellidae.

It is found in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Noisy and conspicuous, often sitting and calling exposed on tops of grasses, bushes and telephone wires.

[2] This species has an extremely large range, and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion (Extent of Occurrence <20,000 km2 combined with a declining or fluctuating range size, habitat extent/quality, or population size and a small number of locations or severe fragmentation).

A comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study of the grassbird family Locustellidae published in 2018 found that Megalurus was non-monophyletic.
