Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978

Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "Det blir alltid värre framåt natten", written by Peter Himmelstrand, and performed by Björn Skifs.

The Swedish participating broadcaster, Sveriges Radio (SR), selected its entry through Melodifestivalen 1978.

It was the 17th time that Sveriges Radio (SR) used this system of picking a song.

There was a tie in the voting, and each regional jury was asked to award one point to their favourite song of "Det blir alltid värre framåt natten" and "Miss Decibel".

Björn Skifs intended to cause controversy by singing in English, which could have disqualified him.
