Meshoppen Township, Pennsylvania

[2] The township takes its name from Meshoppen Creek, a Native American name purported to mean "glass beads".

As of the census[5] of 2010, there were 1,073 people, 429 households, and 271 families residing in the township.

The population density was 68.3 inhabitants per square mile (26.4/km2).

There were 429 households, out of which 34.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.1% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.8% were non-families.

29.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
