Methanococcaceae

In taxonomy, the Methanococcaceae are a family of the Methanococcales.

[1] These organisms produce methane from formate or through the reduction of carbon dioxide with hydrogen.

Members of the genus Methanothermococcus have been found in deep-sea hydrothermal vents.
