The Review of Financial Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal covering the field of finance.

It is published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the Society for Financial Studies.

It was established following discussions at the 1986 Western Finance Association meetings, and the first issue was published in 1988.

[4] The following persons are or have been editors-in-chief: The Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award, named after the first editor of the journal, is an annual prize given to authors of the best paper published in the journal in the past year.

The winners are announced at the Society for Financial Studies Cavalcade conference in May as well as on its website.
