The Ministry of Civil Aviation was the Sri Lankan government ministry responsible for the formulation of a more appropriate policy framework and efficient mechanisms by which to offer competitive and qualitative aviation services in order to fulfill the local and international requirements in the aviation sector.
The ministry was established in 2010 under the government of Mahinda Rajapaksa, and was effectively dissolved following his defeat to Maithripala Sirisena.
Piyankara Jayaratne is the only individual who has ever served as the minister responsible for this ministry.
The Minister of Civil Aviation is an appointment in the Cabinet of Sri Lanka.
