Mogheul

Mogheul (Arabic: ﻣﻮﻏﻞ) is a town and commune in Lahmar District, Béchar Province, in western Algeria near the border with Morocco.

According to the 2008 census its population is 635,[2] down from 682 in 1998,[3] with an annual growth rate of -0.7%, the lowest in the province.

[1] Mogheul lies at an elevation of 1,026 metres (3,366 ft) on a plateau crossed by ranges of rocky hills.

Precipitation is generally light, although due to Mogheul's high altitude and latitude it does receive somewhat more rain than other locations in Béchar Province.

[20] The commune is composed of two localities:[21] El Menabha is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of Mogheul town, on the road to Lahmar.
