Montbard

Montbard (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃baʁ] ⓘ) is a commune and subprefecture of the Côte-d'Or department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France.

Montbard is a small industrial town on the river Brenne.

The chateau was the scene of the marriage of Anne de Bourgogne and John of Lancaster, Duke of Bedford in 1423.

It was acquired by the naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, who was born in Montbard in 1707.
