Narayanaswamy Jayaraman

[1] He is known for his work on synthesis of complex carbohydrates and new dendrimers[2] and is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences.

[6] Returning to India, he joined the premiere Indian Institute of Science where he serves as a professor and the chair of the department of organic chemistry [1] Jayaraman's researches are primarily focused on dendrimers and carbohydrates.

[7] He has also worked on carbohydrate-protein interactions using designer glycolipids[6] as well as on monosaccharides, cluster glycosides, oligosaccharides and unnatural sugars.

[11] Jayaraman received the Bronze Medal of the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) in 2007[12] and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 2009.

[3] He has delivered a number of award orations including the Professor Swaminathan Endowment Lecture of the University of Madras in 2007.
