National team appearances in the FIFA World Cup

This article lists the performances of each of the national teams which have made at least one appearance in the FIFA World Cup.

As of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, 80 national teams have competed at the final tournaments.

[1] Brazil is the only team to have appeared in all 22 tournaments to date, with Germany having participated in 20, Italy and Argentina in 18 and Mexico in 17.

This section is a list of droughts associated with the participation of national football teams in the FIFA World Cups.

1942 and 1946, when the tournament was not held due to World War II, are not included in the calculation of a drought.
