Nello Celio

Nello Celio (12 February 1914 – 29 December 1995) was a Swiss politician from the Canton of Ticino.

He was a member of the Federal Council from 1966 to 1973 and served as the President of the Swiss Confederation in 1972.

In 1944, he was appointed as a public prosecutor in the Sopraceneri area of Ticino.

After the Mirage Affair scandal, which resulted in the departure of Paul Chaudet from the Federal Council, Celio was elected to succeed him.
