[2] However, on December 20, 2022, the Minister of Youth and Sports announced that the country's supreme authorities had decided to name Baraki Stadium after Nelson Mandela the South African anti-apartheid hero.

Also attending many African football stars, namely Emmanuel Adebayor, Karim Haggui, Rabah Madjer, Asamoah Gyan and Jay-Jay Okocha.
