[12] A lot of immigrants originating from the German village of Ladbergen settled down in the area around New Knoxville with which a town partnership was established.
[13] These immigrants became the ancestors of large numbers of residents of New Knoxville and the surrounding area, including Washington Township/Wapakoneta native Neil Armstrong.
Closer relations between the two villages have been fostered by journeys by residents of both communities to the other.
