The New Zealand national cricket team is one of the full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of cricket.

They have finished as the runners up of the tournament once in 2021, and also have been semi-finalists in three editions (2007, 2016 and 2022).

New Zealand is scheduled to host their first ever T20 World Cup in 2028, as co-hosts alongside Australia.
