Newark Township, Licking County, Ohio

Newark Township is one of the 25 townships of Licking County, Ohio, United States.

Located in the center of the county, it borders the following townships and city: Most of the original extent of the township is occupied by the city of Newark, the county seat of Licking County, and the southern edge is now part of the city of Heath; the only remaining parts are the northeastern and northwestern corners of the original township, along with several enclaves of Newark.

[5] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.

There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[6] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election.
