Nischalananda Saraswati is the current 145th Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Purvamnaya Sri Govardhana Peetham of Puri, Odisha, India.
[1][2][3] Shri Nischalananda Saraswati was born as Neelambar Jha in Maithil Brahmin Family in Madhubani in 1943, the son of the raj-Pandita of Maharaja of Darabhanga.
[4] He decided to enter sanyasa while studying at Tibbia College (Science) and spent time studying the shastras in Kashi, Vrindavan, Naimisaranya, Shringeri, and other places.
In 1974, he received diksha from Swami Karpatri, who bestowed upon him the name Niscalananda.
On 11 February 2018, the silver jubilee (25th anniversary) of the pattabhisheka of Swami Nischalananda Saraswati was celebrated in Puri, attended by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, former King of Nepal, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, and Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb of Puri.
