The unit was at the time equipped with Gnat Mk-I ac and assigned to Ground attack and Air defence.
It moved to Kalaikunda AFB under Eastern Air Command in September 1968, forming a part of the 5 Wing.
Two of the PAF pilots, namely Pervez Mehdi Qureshi, Khaleel Ahmed, ejected over the Boyra salient, and were taken POWs.
