After returning to Japan, she founded a private music school from her home, giving piano lessons to upper class girls and members of the royal family.
Nobu Koda was considered an authority on western music in Japan, and was the first Japanese composer to write a violin sonata.
She encouraged him to study abroad in Germany, where he would deepen his knowledge of violin and pedagogy and eventually develop the famous Suzuki Teaching Method.
They all wrote personal accounts of their family's history & often mentioned Nobu, preventing her from falling into obscurity.
[5] On May 6th, 2023, pianist Dr. Makiko Hirata gave a presentation & performance of works by the Koda family at the Little Tokyo Library Branch.
She also published an article for Nikkan San (The Japanese Daily Sun) on Koda and continues to champion the family's legacy.
