Nora, Illinois

Nora is a village in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, United States.

[4] Nora Elementary School (whose athletic nickname was the Navahos) was a fixture of the town for years.

Until the 1960s the town had a grocery store run by Belle Lutter, who claimed to have ridden Ulysses S. Grant's horse as a girl.

[5] According to the 2010 census, Nora has a total area of 0.91 square miles (2.36 km2), all land.

14.3% of families and 11% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no people under age 18 and none over 64.
