North Troy, Vermont

[5] Until 2007, the village was unique for depending neither on the town constable nor the county sheriff for law enforcement but had a police force of its own.

While it was not village policy to have fines as a money maker, the department did break even.

[7] According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9 square miles (5.0 km2), all land.

34.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
