It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, which took place 19 October 2015.

In the last few elections, the Liberals have dominated throughout the riding, winning a majority of the vote in every neighbourhood.

Their strongest neighbourhoods are the Loyola section Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Montreal West and the area around Îlot-Trafalgar-Gleneagles.
