Nové Strašecí is a town in Rakovník District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.
The attribute nové ('new') is used from 1554, after the town was completely rebuilt as a result of a large fire.
During the 15th century, Strašecí lost its privileges, but in 1503, it was promoted to a town by King Vladislaus II.
[4] The D6 motorway (part of the European route E48) from Prague to Karlovy Vary passes through the town.
[7] The main landmark of Nové Strašecí is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
