Oak City, formerly known as Goose Nest,[4] is a town in Martin County, North Carolina, United States.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2), all land.

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 339 people, 144 households, and 91 families residing in the town.

There were 162 housing units at an average density of 339.2 per square mile (131.0/km2).

36.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 22.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
