Oakland is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States.

[4] It sits in the southeastern corner of Union Township, bordered to the south and east by the city of New Castle, the Lawrence county seat, and to the north by Oakwood.

[5] The community sits on a hill overlooking the Shenango River to the east.

As of the census[7] of 2000, there were 1,516 people, 617 households, and 434 families residing in the CDP.

26.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
