Ope Pasquet

[1] Pasquet is part of a generation of young politicians who began as opponents of the civic-military dictatorship (1973—85) and in the framework of the constitutional referendum of 1980 together with Enrique Tarigo.

In 1984 they ran for the Chamber of Representatives for the Libertad y Cambio — List 85 sector, together with Luis Hierro López and Roberto Asiaín.

[3] In June 2013, during a parliamentary session remembering 40 years of the 1973 Uruguayan coup d'état, Pasquet brought forward the Colorado Party's need of self-criticism for its responsibility regarding these events.

[8] In early February 2022, it was announced that Ope Pasquet would succeed Alfredo Fratti as president of the Chamber of Representatives during the 3rd session (2022).

[11] Pasquet is married to Elena Martínez Rosso, judge and minister of the Supreme Court of Justice.
