Operation Dark Heart

Operation Dark Heart: Spycraft and Special Ops on the Frontlines of Afghanistan and the Path to Victory is a 2010 memoir by retired United States Army Reserve intelligence officer Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer.

[1] The United States Department of Defense went to extreme lengths in an attempt to censor information in the book after it had already been printed.

[6] A U.S. district judge ruled in April 2015 that Shaffer's public testimony to Congress in 2006 was permissible to be included in the book in any subsequent printing.

[7] The book also contains Shaffer's allegations that the DIA's Able Danger program identified hijacker Mohamed Atta before the September 11 attacks.

[9] On September 18, 2010, The New York Times published, with commentary, the plain text and censored versions of page 26 of the book.
