It is the easternmost school district on the North Fork of Long Island.
The district includes the census-designated places (CDPs) of East Marion and Orient.
As of 2015[update], Oysterponds Union Free School District had 86 students.
[citation needed] The superintendent and principal is Justin Cobis[2] Jennifer Wissemann is the principal's assistant[3] The only school operated by the district is Oysterponds Elementary School (grades K-6).
[4] Proposals to merge the school district with its neighbors to the west have been discussed in the past, but have not been approved.
