Paden City, West Virginia

[2] The town was named for Pennsylvania-born Obediah Paden (1755-1822), a local landowner.

[7] The Paden City Pottery Company was established in 1911 by a European, John Lessel.

He started his company there because Paden City had large clay deposits.

It closed in 1950 but its products are still available for sale on many websites selling vintage dishware.

[8] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.85 square miles (2.20 km2), all land.
