The Venkatachala Mahatyam states that the Sun-god Suryanarayana was instrumental in blossoming of the lotus in full splendour.

The manifestation of Padmavathi occurred in the month of Karthika on Sukla Paksha Panchami when the star Uttarashada in the ascendent.
