Palau ground dove

The Palau ground dove (Pampusana canifrons) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae.

The forehead and lores are ashy grey, and the crown is dark slaty.

The flight feathers are dark brown and rufous, and there is a purple patch on the wing coverts.

The juvenile bird has a duller forehead and throat, and it does not have the purple patch on the wing coverts.

[6] This is a solitary species, foraging for seeds and fruits in leaf litter on the ground.

It calls from the same place in the mornings and evenings, cooing monotonously for up to two minutes.
