[1][2] His thesis project, Zone – A Sustainable City Region, was co-authored with Andrew Derbyshire and John Voelcker.

[3] Crooke and Turner persuaded the mayor to finance a scheme to support homeless residents to build their own homes.

[3] As supervising architect Crooke oversaw a team of agricultural students, foremen and masons assisting residents in the construction.

[2][1] In the 1960s Crooke taught in Sudan at the University of Khartoum before moving to Ibadan, Nigeria and working as a consultant for the International Labour Organisation.
