As of 2012[update], Ramgarh was not among the highly affected districts in the state.

The main tributaries of Damodar in the area are Naikari, Bhairavi/ Bhera and Bokaro.
The Rajrappa falls and Naikari dam are important landmarks.

The plant has become old and operates at a derated[clarification needed] capacity.
