Patrick Durcan (bishop)

Patrick Durcan (5 February 1790 – 1 May 1875)[1] was an Irish[2] Roman Catholic clergyman[3] who served as Bishop of Achonry[4] from 1852[5] until his death.

[6] The son of John and Mary Durcan (née Rowan),[1] he helped to translate the Vulgate into the English language, published in 1857.

[7] He was educated at St Patrick's College, Maynooth.

He is buried at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen.
