José Patrocinio González Blanco Garrido (18 May 1934 – 30 November 2021) was a Mexican politician affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
González Garrido resigned as governor after four years[3] when, on 4 January 1993, President Carlos Salinas de Gortari[a] appointed him secretary of the interior, replacing Fernando Gutiérrez Barrios.
[9] González Garrido withdrew from political life as a consequence[1] and, in later years, established a zoo, Ecoparque Aluxes, in Palenque, Chiapas.
[1] His father, Salomón González Blanco, was a Supreme Court justice, served 12 years as Secretary of Labour and Social Welfare and was governor of Chiapas in 1977–1979.
[3] Their youngest, Josefa González Blanco Ortiz Mena, served briefly as secretary of the environment (2018–2019) and, in 2021, was appointed ambassador to the United Kingdom.
