It is located 10 km (6.2 mi) northwest of Pau in Uzein, a commune of the département of Pyrénées-Atlantiques (named for the Pyrénées mountains and the Atlantic Ocean).

In 2015 Airbus announced that its E-Fan electric aircraft was to be produced at Pau Pyrénées Airport, at a new facility to be constructed in 2016.
First deliveries of the E-Fan were expected at the end of 2017 or early 2018.
