Paul Francis Anderson

Paul Francis Anderson (April 20, 1917 – January 4, 1987) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.

[1] After graduating from Winthrop High School in 1935, he enrolled at Boston College but soon transferred to St. John's Seminary in Brighton.

[2] Anderson then served as a curate at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham until 1946, when he accepted an invitation to join the Diocese of Sioux Falls in South Dakota.

[2] During his 13-year tenure, he earned a reputation as an advocate for progressive causes, and worked to implement the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

[1] He organized five regional pastoral councils, encouraged charismatic services, and improved Catholic relations with Protestants and Jews.
