From Adelaide, Stewart started the 2006 SANFL season in the Woodville-West Torrens Under-19s, made his league debut during the season and by the end of year had played in Woodville-West Torrens successful Grand Final.

Stewart had a very good debut gaining a very respectable 18 disposals, with 7 kicks, 11 handballs and 5 marks.
Even though Port Adelaide lost by 58, they named him as a forward the next game and he booted 2 goals.
In round 17, he became a star forward getting a five-goal haul to help Port Adelaide defeat Melbourne by 28 points.
