Pelican, Queensland

Pelican is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region, Queensland, Australia.

[1] The locality is named after Pelican Station, a pastoral run operated by James Ivory in the early 1850s.

[2] Pelican Provisional School opened on 22 June 1908, becoming Pelican State School on 1 January 1909, closing about June 1932.

[3] It was on Burra Burri Creek Road (26°36′13″S 150°52′06″E / 26.6037°S 150.8684°E / -26.6037; 150.8684 (Pelican State School (former))).

[1] The Chinchilla–Wondai Road runs along the southern boundary.
