As of the census[6] of 2000, 1,471 people, 581 households, and 435 families reside in the township.

There were 627 housing units at an average density of 34.8 per square mile (13.4/km2).

22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

In the township the population was spread out, with 24.1% under 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
