The late 2010s saw a decline in Peruvian women's football, being eliminated in the group stage of the Copa America since 2003 and the same for the U-17 and U-20 team.

In 2019, the team automatically qualified for the 2019 Pan American Games for the first time as hosts and placed 8th after losing to Jamaica.
