Peter Nyoni

[1] He previously served as one of the executive directors for the Mpumalanga Human Settlements Department until he was removed in 2013 from the position by then Premier David Mabuza.

[5] On 27 July 2015, the PEC suspended Nyoni as its member[6] pending a disciplinary process[7] over allegations that he was part of the 'Save Mpumalanga ANC' group that was opposed to the rule of then ANC provincial chairperson and now former deputy president David Mabuza, accusing him of being a dictator and of using bogus delegates to endorse him as provincial chairperson for a third term.

[8] It was formed to oppose the March 2015 provincial general council (PGC) that endorsed Mabuza to stand as chairperson for a third term.

[14] After the August 2016 local government elections, Mabuza made a turnabout in ANC politics and called for unity within provincial party's structures,[15][16][17] admitting that the ANC was being killed by the factionalism of its leaders and saying he no longer wanted to participate in factions[18][19] Still a Premier of Mpumalanga at that time, Mabuza reconciled with Nyoni and appointed him the head of the provincial Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in August 2016.

[24] The contest was suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak[25][26] and was held in April 2022, with Ndlovu emerging as the new provincial chairperson, deputy chair Speedy Mashilo, secretary Muzi Chirwa, deputy secretary Lindiwe Ntshalintshali and treasurer Mandla Msibi.
