The city of Petersburg, a separate municipality, is surrounded by the northern part of the township.

The city of Monroe, the Monroe county seat, is 18 miles (29 km) to the east of the center of the township, and Dundee is 9 miles (14 km) to the north.

There were 1,134 housing units at an average density of 26.9 per square mile (10.4/km2).

13.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
