Plainview Independent School District

In addition to Plainview, the district also serves the town of Edmonson and the community of Seth Ward.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.

School districts in Texas with demographics similar to that of Plainview often report 25% of their students are LEP.

Superintendent Ron Miller stated that due to Plainview's rural location it was especially difficult for the district to hire bilingual-certified teachers.

Miller stated in 2008 that he did not believe that the setup of Plainview ISD bilingual programs in elementary grades contributed to the high school dropout rates.
