Pochaiv

Pochaiv (Ukrainian: Почаїв, IPA: [poˈtʃɑjiu̯] ⓘ; Polish: Poczajów; Yiddish: פּאטשאיעװ, romanized: Pitshayev) is a city in Kremenets Raion, Ternopil Oblast, western Ukraine.

During World War I in August 1915 it was controlled by Austro-Hungarian troops, although in summer 1916 it was occupied by Imperial Russian Army during Brusilov Offensive.

[5][4] The city is known for the Pochaiv Lavra, the second largest Eastern Orthodox monastery in Ukraine.

On October 1, 2020, the Center for Provision of Social Services of the Pochaiv City Council was established,[6] the head of which was appointed Gichka Yuriy Serhiyovych on the basis of competitive selection.
