Ponderosa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sandoval County, New Mexico, United States.

[4] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.3 square miles (19 km2), all land.

The racial makeup of the 2000 CDP was 29.68% White, 0.32% African American, 4.52% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.32% Pacific Islander, 59.68% from other races, and 5.16% from two or more races.

In 2000, there were 112 households, out of which 42.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% were non-families.

17.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
