Prairie View Township was named for its overlooks of the Red River of the North valley.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 215 people, 73 households, and 58 families residing in the township.

The racial makeup of the township was 98.60% White and 1.40% African American.

There were 73 households, out of which 42.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.9% were married couples living together, 4.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.5% were non-families.

16.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
