The mosque was built in the 17th century during the reign of Abdullah Qutb Shah.
It is thought to have been commissioned by Premamati, a legendary Muslim courtesan and a companion of Abdullah Qutb Shah.
[3] Premamati was a muslim courtesan and served as a singer and dancer in the royal court.
[4][5] She was thought to have enjoyed an elevated position at court, being the mosque's namesake and with her tomb's proximity to the Shah's mausoleum.
The façade contains five entrance arches, as is typical of Qutb Shahi mosques.
